Importance of Having Licensed Veterinary Technicians
We believe in providing your pet the best quality possible. This is why we work with licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs) who must be certified before working with your pet. Our LVTs are also required to attend ongoing educational seminars in the veterinary field. This allows them to stay up-to-date with the current trends in the industry and helps our team better care for your pet.
At the Companion Pet Hospital of Fishkill, we perform spay (ovariohysterectomy) and neuter surgery Monday through Friday. Additionally, our surgery suite is fully equipped to perform soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery when needed.
A licensed veterinary technician will monitor your pet closely during anesthesia and recovery. We use state-of-the-art equipment to monitor your pet’s heart rate and rhythm (ECG), oxygen saturation (Pulse Oximeter), respiration (Capnograph), and blood pressure, and a heating blanket is used to help maintain your pet’s body temperature.
Please call us for further information or to obtain an estimate for services. Please note that a physical exam is often needed in order to produce an accurate estimate.
Munchie is hooked up to lots of tubes! From left to right: An endotracheal tube (breathing tube) delivers anesthetic gas and oxygen, the Capnograph measures Munchie’s breathing, the Pulse Oximeter measures Munchie’s blood oxygen levels, an IV catheter delivers fluids (and emergency drugs, if needed), ECG leads measure Munchie’s heart rate and rhythm, and blood pressure cuff.
